in Brazil, it was thought there is only one kind of wild cat, but researchers too DNA samples and discovered the northern and southern wild cats are actually completely separate, showing no evidence of interbreeding. the southern wild cats prefer living in the wet and dense forest while the northern wild cats prefers the dry shrubs. they are both on the threatened list.
