at beijing’s forbidden city, there are around 200 stray cats living and working there. their job is to keep rats and vermin away from the area. the museum not only provides food, vitamins and home for these cats, they have also neutered over 180 of them in the past five years. according to the history record, the royal would keep cats in the imperial palace, and therefore, the official believes that some of these stray cats might be descendants of those royal pets.
