horseshoe crabs have been on earth for over 450 million years, and are often called living fossils. their blood is blue and are used for testing bacterial contamination. the reproduction rate of horseshoe crabs are low, and they are endangered. however, over 30 thousands of crabs are killed furring or after the blood harvest process. more and more countries recognized using human blood for testing, and could reduce causing more harm to the horseshoes crabs.
