阿拉斯加海生館於去年底拯救了一隻失明的小斑海豹，相信牠因頭部創傷導致失明。因失去視力，牠的聽力特別敏銳，保育員嘗試透過聲音教導牠一些基本技能。斑海豹大多較害羞，但這隻小海豹卻對周圍的事物充滿好奇，相信對學習很有幫助。可惜牠因無法恢復視力，所以不能放歸大海。
the alaska sealife center in seaward rescued a blind seal pup in in the end of 2014. they believed the seal suffered a head trauma and resulted in blindness. because of its blindness, it has really sensitive hearing; therefore, the staff are teaching it some basic skills with a shaker. while other seal are usually shy, this seal are curious and like to explore things. because it is unable to regain it sight, it has been deemed non-releasable.
