寵物雀於印尼非常普遍，導致非法野生捕雀問題嚴重，13種雀鳥正面臨滅絕。當中包括小葵花鳳頭鸚鵡、禾雀、黃冠鵯等。當地政府大多打擊瀕危物種如猩猩、老虎和大象的走私，缺乏對雀鳥的保護。
keep birds as pets is very common in Indonesia, and the illegal pet trade is putting 13 species of their birds at serious risk of extinction. this includes yellow-crested cockatoo, java sparrow, straw-headed bulbul, etc.. the local government mainly focused on cracking down traffic of endangered species like orangutans, tigers and elephants, and not enough protection for the birds.
