Bramble Cay melomys extinct

climate change endangered

Bramble Cay melomys is the first mammal species that is extinct due to human-induced climate change. Bramble Cay melomys was only found on Bramble Cay in Australia. the rising sea level has caused the land area of the island decreased from 4 hectares in 1998 to 2.5 hectares in 2014. seawater kills the plants on the island and Bramble Cay melomys lost its habitat and food; as a result, they are now extinct on earth.
