return of farmland bird in UK

cirl buntings were once common in southern England, but they lost their food sources and habitat due to agricultural practices. conservationists worked with the famers in those areas to help recover food sources and habitats for the birds in the past 25 years. together they successfully bring back the population of the endangered cirl buntings from around 100 pairs to 1078 pairs in 2016. cirl buntings are not the only species that are benefited by their hard work; this also provide better habitat for other wildlife like brown hares, skylarks and horseshoe bats.
