tourism supports more than 300,000 jobs in Madagascar. During the pandemic lockdown, the locals forced to move to rural areas to clear forests, where wildlife inhabits, to grow food and for firewoods. They are also hunting more wildlife, such as the critically endangered red ruffed lemur, for food or to sell in local markets then before.
